Waste Management Receives Corporate Leadership Award as Part of Black History Month Celebration
SAN DIEGO, February 21, 2006 - Waste Management of San Diego in El Cajon this week will receive a corporate leadership award from Worldwide Multi-Media at the 2006 San Diego Black History Month Living Legacy Awards and Gospel Musical at the Bayview Baptist Church in San Diego.
“We’re very excited that we have been selected for this award,” said Jason Rose, Market Area General Manager for Waste Management. “Because our company employs people with a large variety of backgrounds, skill sets and talents, we are proud that our employees represent the diverse communities that we serve, and we are striving to further focus on diversity as we recruit job candidates and vendors.”
In addition to the corporate leadership award, Waste Management of San Diego was honored in December by nonprofit organization The Diversity Group for creating opportunities through diversity in the workplace during 2005. Company-wide, Waste Management was highlighted in the May/June 2005 issue of Profiles in Diversity Journal for its corporate diversity initiatives.

The award will be presented on Friday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m., at the Bayview Baptist Church, located at 6134 Benson Avenue. Other honorees include: religious leader and Christian broadcaster Rev.
